Description:The report, prepared with United Power for Action and Justice of Illinois, is based on a review of Census Bureau data. It describes the dramatic increase in the number of uninsured people in Illinois between 1997 and 1998. Despite a booming economy, the number of uninsured people grew from 1.5 million to 1.8 million in a year's time. This one year increase from 12.4 percent to 15 percent of the population, gives Illinois one of the fastest growing uninsured populations in the country.
